Amusement Machines

Amusement machines, as defined by the Gaming  Definitions Regulations (S. L. 583.04), are a classification of gaming machines where:

  • The game is played through an electronic machine found on the machine.
  • Publicly available for players to access within the gaming premises on a consistent basis.
  • The machine can be operated by the insertion of money and/or tokens.
  • The winner receives a prize.
  • The game is there to offer amusement and entertainment, and not for gambling.

 Any person(s) who wish to operate, or in any other matter, make available for us of an amusement machine in the premises that is easily available to the public, they must adhere to the requirements that is specified within the Amusement Machines Directive (Directive 5 of 2019).

Fees & Taxation

A one-time, non-refundable fee of FIFTY EUROS (€50.00) per registration of an amusement machine will be incurred by the gaming operator during the application process.

How to Apply

Gaming operators who want to make their amusement machines publicly available for use are required to submit an amusement machine application form to  [email protected].

Applicants must submit the application with the following information required by the MGA:

  • The total number of amusement machines to be registered.
  • Detailed and accurate report to describe the amusement machine and game, so long as the report also contains supplementary information such as relevant documentation and photographs.
  • Declaration by the gaming operator that the amusement machine will not serve any kind of gambling purpose, and is strictly for entertainment only.
  • Details of where the amusement machine will be situated at.
  • Details of the event or events where the amusement machine will be made use of, including, but not limited to, event name, description of the event, and duration of the event.

Key points to remember while filling the application form: 

  • For questions that are not applicable to the purposes of the amusement machine, the applicant may use N/A as a response.
  • The application form will not be accepted until all relevant parts have been completed and required documents have been fully submitted.

The application, along with the relevant enclosures, will be sent to the following e-mail address: [email protected]. Any inquiries can also be sent through the same e-mail adress. 

In the event of the application being rejected, the MGA will inform the applicant of the organisation’s decision and reasoning for the rejection.
